GCS has a tradition of excellence in and out of the
classroom. Accomplishments reflect team and individuals success.
Academics
Goshen students and educators have earned numerous awards and honors.
- The International Baccalaureate Organization has approved Goshen High School’s application to offer the IB diploma program beginning in the fall of 2008. This two year program will provide junior and senior students with advanced courses in six academic areas.
- In the last 15 years, we have had more National Merit Finalists than
any other county school.
- Goshen High School and Goshen Middle School have
the highest accreditation by the North Central Association Commission,
an accreditation attained by only two other schools in the state.
- Our “A” students
score considerably higher on the SAT than other “A” students
around the state of Indiana.
- Business-sponsored honors award program for both middle school and high
school with a total expense of $15,000
- Over $300,000 in college scholarships given annually

Athletics
Our athletic teams are known for a competitive spirit and include
past and present state qualifiers in boys' and girls' swimming, tennis and
golf and boys' wrestling.

- GHS Girls Cross Country - placed second at regionals and fifth at Semi-State.

Performing Arts
Our choir, band, orchestra programs have received national and state
recognition. Theater productions at GHS are truly community events. Past
plays and musicals include "Godspell," "Les Miserables," "Roshamon" and "Little
Women." For this year's production of Peter Pan, students, with help from
a professional rigging company, performed in mid-air.
2007-2008 School Year

The Advanced Crimson Jazz earned a 97 and 98 out of a possible 100 from the two judges. Dan Baker and Mike Hallberg were named the “outstanding soloists” of the festival and were given medals for their achievement.
- GHS Orchestras who had sixteen string events performing at ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble Contest. From the sixteen events performing, the musicians brought home fifteen GOLD Ratings and one silver. Our orchestra students are to be commended for their outstanding achievements on Saturday.
- The Crimson Percussion Ensemble won the WGI Percussion Regional. They were also runners-up at the Indiana Percussion Association State Finals. They qualified for the WGI National Championships that will take place in April in Dayton, Ohio.
- Goshen HS Orchestra member, Noah Waters was a Gold medal winner of the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra’s concerto competition.
- The GMS 7th and 8th grade choirs attended Music in the Parks at Cedar Point. 7th grade received an rating of EXCELLENT for their work, and 8th grade received a GOOD rating.
- The GMS choirs and orchestras received the ESPIRIT DE CORPS award for outstanding professionalism, musicianship, and citizenship at the performance and in the park. This is the 2nd time Goshen Middle School has received this award.
2006-2007 School Year
- The Crimson Marching Band were the 2007 Regional Champions and also took top honors in the Music, Visual and General Effect captions. They placed 4th at state competition.
Student Organizations
Many activities continue from elementary school into
high school, including the chess club.
2007-2008 School Year
- The RED Rocket Team qualified for Team America Rocketry Challenge National Competition.
- The GHS RED Rocket Team placed 4th of the teams from Indiana and 52nd overall this weekend at the competition near Washington, DC.

Professional Recognition
Goshen teachers and administraitors work hard to provide the best educational environment for students.
2007-2008 School Year
- Model Elementary Principal, Mrs. Olinghouse received an award for Outstanding Administrator from the Indiana Music Educators because of her support of the Arts.

GMS and GHS Orchestra teacher, Mrs. Ellington has been notified that she will be receiving the "Elizabeth H. Green School Educator Award" to be presented in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the National convention of the American String Teachers Association February 28-March 1. This national award is presented by ASTA to a school string educator with a current and distinguished career in a school orchestral setting.
